EIC Showcase 2015

Please join us at the Energy Innovation Center for our first Showcase. Over the course of two days we will open our doors to show off our beautiful building and celebrate our latest milestones. This is a free, open house style event; guests can drop-in any time, but we request registration in advance.

·         Meet and mingle with EIC staff and stakeholders

·         Thrival Innovation + Music Festival (September 23): a full day of innovation-focused programming on Education Frontiers and Engagement

·         Light refreshments provided by Pittsburgh Community Kitchen

 

Registration

This event is free and guests can drop in at their convenience, but we request registration in advance by filling out our online form.

Hours and schedule of events

·         September 22, 10:30 am – 6:30 pm; September 23, 12 – 7 pm.

·         Tours of Mechanical Room and Green Roof depart every half-hour.

Games in Education: Improving Teaching and Learning Outcomes Through Gamification

In an educational setting, games can teach new and complex skills, including creative problem-solving, collaboration. Join Schell Games’ diverse group of experts in a vibrant discussion about the use of video games in traditional and non-traditional educational pursuits.

10:45–11:45 am

Tactile Tech: New approaches to experiential education

Afternoon thought talks and demos from multiple organizations, each with their own approach to creating transformative experiences through technology and gamification.

1–3 pm

3–4:30 pm

Ed Tech Developer’s Tour

The U.S. Department of Education presents this guide for developers, startups and entrepreneurs addresses key questions about the education ecosystem and highlights critical needs and opportunities to develop digital tools and apps for learning.

4:30–6 pm

Ed Tech Refinery Happy Hour

Happy hour and networking opportunity to learn more about The EdTech Refinery, a new program of The Sprout Fund to support Pittsburgh ed-tech ventures. Grant and partnership opportunities will be announced. Drinks and light fare will be provided.

We are located at 1435 Bedford Avenue, Pittsburgh PA 15219 in the Hill District. Please enter via the glass tower on the west side of the building.

Parking

Parking is first-come, first-served. Enter the main lot off Bedford Avenue; additional parking behind the building. Paid parking across the street.
