Connected Communities

Pittsburgh Gateways Corporation as Owner/Manager of the Energy Innovation Center seven-acre complex is pleased to announce the collaboration with Energy One Solutions, Emera Technologies, Duquesne Light, and Vaulte, to demonstrate one of the nation’s first power migration and power generation systems.

This demonstration project will aggregate a connected array of uni-cells on and off the Energy Innovation Center complex that, when combined, establish a true community micro-grid with multi-tenant residential, cultural institution, retail, and research center applications with special focus on the Universities that have labs at the Energy Innovation Center.

As Robert Meeder (Pittsburgh Gateways Corporation & Energy Innovation Center, LP CEO & President) states: “It is the intention of this demonstration project to serve as ‘one wheel of the cog’ to the city and regional plan of the City of Pittsburgh, and to share the deployment methods within the region in communities such as Johnstown and New Kensington.”

Pittsburgh Gateways has a series of equity positions in properties that will assist the utility connections in accordance with regulatory requirements that might otherwise impede the ability to meet the objectives of a connected community interests of federal/state agencies (e.g. US DOE).
