CCAC and the Energy Innovation Center Establish Historic Partnership
In an effort to increase access to education and attract more people to jobs in the gas, energy and technology industries, CCAC has partnered with the Energy Innovation Center (EIC) to provide hands-on training and workforce development programs. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed on October 29, 2014 to establish the intent of both the college and EIC to collaborate to offer expanded educational opportunities and workforce development training.
The collaboration marks the first time a school has agreed to offer education and training programs in the center’s LEED Platinum certified facility located in Pittsburgh’s Hill District. This partnership will not only expand the reach of the college’s cutting-edge educational and workforce development training opportunities, but it may also inspire “change in the nation’s approach to workforce training and skills based education” according to EIC Board Chair William Recker.
Dr. Bullock adds, “This is a very unique partnership that could become a ‘national model’ of bringing colleges and businesses together.” The collaboration benefits the Institute by providing new courses to complement EIC’s curriculum and helps the college to connect with individuals who want to pursue additional education or training.
With science and technology rapidly changing the landscape of business and industry, it is essential that access to training for careers in high-demand fields is available to all members of our society. That is why CCAC and EIC have come together to deliver education and workforce training in a community that will greatly benefit from the collaboration.
