Three Rivers WIB awarded $400K Strategic Innovation Grant in collaboration with UPMC and the Energy Innovation Center

The Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry awarded 14 groups $4 million in Strategic Innovation Grants to support the commonwealth’s Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Combined State Plan.

The grants support Governor Wolf’s vision of “jobs that pay, schools that teach, and government that works” by encouraging creativity and innovation in workforce development depicted in the WIOA Combined State Plan.

Three Rivers Workforce Investment Board received $400,000 to develop a environmental services technician training program in collaboration with UPMC and the Energy Innovation Center. This funding will allow low-skilled individuals with barriers to employment enter short-term pre-employment training.
